A Wave of Charity

Just before Spring Break, a massive earthquake caused a natural disaster that sparked a global response of concern and charitable response. One UP student felt compelled to do her part to help the afflicted. Danielle Castro, a senior, came up with a t-shirt design and then acted on her idea, making the shirts and selling them as a way to raise funds for Japan.

Castro’s project has drawn a lot of support. One of the first to order a t-shirt was Apple Co-founder Steve Wozniak. Castro’s decision to help with the relief process reflects the goals of the university. Teaching, Faith, and Service is the mission statement of the university and this shows that UP’s students are responding appropriately.
If you haven’t yet picked one up, check out the site here. Shirts are $10 and go towards a good cause.
